Executive Biographies - John Martella

In March of 2009 Mr. Martella joined the LCA management team as President of LCA Financial, LLC a merchant banking subsidiary and Senior Vice President of Strategic Planning for Lease Corporation of America. His responsibilities include purchase and sale of portfolios, middle market transaction placement, advisory services for syndication opportunities, portfolio risk management, third party programs, and overall strategic planning. Mr. Martella’s relationship with LCA dates back to 2000 and he has provided over $35 million of structure financing to the company.

Mr. Martella has over 33 years of diversified industry experience. Prior to joining LCA Mr. Martella served and President of New World Equipment Funding, LLC., a de novo business which started in 2006 and provided structure equipment lease/finance purchase facilities to upper tier independent lessor and financial institutions. Under his direction New World joined the Monitor 100 at number 82 in 2007. From January, 2000 to March, 2006, he served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the equipment financing division of Sovereign Bank. Mr. Martella built the portfolio from $16 million in originations in 1999 to $390 million in 2000. Mr. Martella’s responsibilities included establishing credit policy, instituting funding procedures, developing and structuring purchase/finance facilities for independent lessor and financial institutions. The commercial equipment division of Sovereign Bank joined the Monitor 100 for the first time in 2003 at number 63.

In 1985 Mr. Martella and investors started Atlantic Commercial Alliance a bank service company providing marketing, front end and back room services for lenders interested in funding lease/loan transactions, and dealer based retail auto loans. Responsibilities included strategic planning, interfacing with various lending institutions, developing lessor and broker relationships, direct origination of large ticket transactions, sourcing and negotiating portfolio purchases and sales. Prior thereto, he served as National Sales Manager for Oxford Resources Corp from 1978 to 1984 and as an Account Executive for Industralease Corp. from 1974 to 1978.

Mr. Martella received his Bachelor of Science degree in finance from St. John’s University in 1973.
